Bears

Full Curl Outdoors specializes in bear hunting.  We offer Black Bear and Coastal Brown Bear hunting along the Copper River and it's tributaries.  The Copper River Basin supports such an abundance of bears there is no closed season for either species.   It is possible to take both species of bears on a single hunt.  We also offer interior Grizzly hunts in several areas of the state.

BROWN/GRIZZLY BEARS
Nothing in North American hunting comes close to the exhilaration of dealing with one of Alaska's big bears up close.  When in brown bear or grizzly country there is always a feeling within, no matter how tough you are, this ground belongs to the bear!  These are the largest land predators on earth.  High brown bears populations have been devastating to moose populations in many areas of Alaska causing liberalized seasons and bag limits.  Full Curl Outdoors offers hunts in several areas of the state for coastal brown bears and Grizzlies.  Although the season is open year-round, spring hunting in the Copper River Basin takes place late April-June, and fall hunting mid September-October.  Grizzlies may also be taken with many other species as a combination hunt.

Full Curl Outdoors offers Black bear hunts in South-Central Alaska and the Copper River Basin.  Alaska's black bear population is at historic levels.  Many areas of the state have a three bear limit with no closed season.  Some areas of the state have no limit on black bears due to overpopulation.  Hunters can expect multiple opportunities to bag bears on all of our hunts.  One to three bears may be taken on hunts as short as four days.  Our black bear hunts on the Copper River are spot and stalk May 10-June 1 and over bait June 1-15.  The Copper Basin also holds a high percentage (about 25%) of cinnamon color phase bears.  Black bears may also be taken incidentally while hunting many other species.  As a long-time bow hunter I encourage the use of various types of weapons for these hunts.  Muzzleloaders, handguns, bows, or rifles are welcomed on all Full Curl Outdoors hunts.
